Literary Emporium is an independent brand creating gifts for book lovers including jewellery, stationery and apparel. With a design studio located in Frome, Somerset Literary Emporium take inspiration from classic literature and beautiful words to bring a range of literary themed gifts for bookworms and bibliophiles.
Established in 2012 by English graduate Rio Brown, Literary Emporium has successfully traded online for 6 years across various platforms including notonthehighstreet.com, Etsy and through their own website.
Like the books that inspire them, Literary Emporium is a brand that customers come to love and feel connected to through a shared love of classic novels. As they take ownership of their favourites and wear their enjoyment proudly, we wanted a brand mark that could be enjoyed in just the same way.
We designed an icon that could be enjoyed as a badge or used as a charming page divider. It is intended to reference the vintage stamps of classic publishing houses, the kind that their audience would be familiar with and looks lovely embossed or stamped onto book jackets.
Just below the surface of the smart and classic literary feel, we’ve given the brand a subversive edge using a bespoke pattern created from the inky, tattoo-like illustrations from their products. The pattern acts as the endpapers of the visual identity – always appearing after the turn of a page or lifting of a flap in order to add intrigue but never to overpower.
We found the entire process of working with Fiasco Design supportive, inclusive and innovative from the outset. They had the expertise to turn our discussions into realities and at all points they were highly communicative. The support throughout the whole process has been second to none and they have continued to aid us with questions following completion of the project. We are so happy.
