Retro-inspired branding for London’s only authentic arcade bar

Four Quarters has the largest collection of authentic retro arcade machines in London. From Space Invaders and Pacman, to classic Nintendo and Sony consoles; the chain of arcade bars serve up a heavy dose of nostalgia alongside a selection of craft beers, cocktails and pizza.

With venues in Peckham, Hackney Wick and Elephant and Castle, the Four Quarters team have ambitions to expand the concept and open new venues across the country.

With future growth in mind, Four Quarters came to us looking to create a retro-inspired visual identity that captured the in-venue experience, appealing to die hard and novice gamers alike.

Using the central idea of ‘Nostalgia with Soul’ we immersed ourselves in the different visual styles of the 90’s – from underground music and pop to grunge and skateboarding culture.

The visual identity is designed to reflect the eclectic, experimental and often contradictory design styles of the time period.

To do this we employed a punchy, neon-inspired colour palette, and a set of fonts that mix weights and combinations to give the visual language further energy.

Photography and video is used to champion the arcade machines and game consoles, with a treatment that gives images a lo-fi, analog quality.
